Seattle
The City of Seattle is known for many reasons. If you plan to move to this area or you intend to visit you may want to learn more about what you would get yourself into. You may want to know what the climate is really like as well as what Seattle is really known for. Correction Regarding The “Rainy City” Seattle is not quite as rainy as some would like to think. This city actually only receives only a little over 34 inches of precipitation a year, which is less than cities such as New York City, Atlanta, or Houston-and these are not even the rainiest cities of the world. The perception of rain is probably what people either may mistake for rain or what people actually think of when they think of Seattle. The fact is that though it does not rain as much as people think it rains in this city it actually is cloudy about 226 days per year, versus cities like New York City who only experience cloud coverage about 126 days out of the year. There is actually more rain in places such as the Hoh Rainforest in Olympic National Park, which is located west of Seattle. What Else Seattle Is Commonly Known For This city is thought of as the place where grunge music started. Likewise, this city is thought of as one that is noted for its tendency to drink large amounts of coffee. One of the famous coffee places located in this state is Starbucks, and this coffee shop now serves people in several states. Other coffee shops that are located in Seattle include Seattle’s Best Coffee and Tully’s. This city also has a few remarkable cappuccino bars. Seattle is also known as a very liberal state. In fact, this state had been the host of the 1999 World Trade Organization meeting. During the Second World War, Seattle was the place of departure for quite a bit of troops. Quite a few of these troops had manufactured fighters and bombers in the North Pacific. This manufacturer was Boeing, which Seattle was the main headquarters of until the year 2001. In the year 2001, the Boeing headquarters was moved to Chicago, while the manufacturing was still and is still done in Seattle. Seattle is also known from the middle 1990s on to be one of the leading development locations for computer technology and telecommunications advancements. They are also one of the places that initiate advancements in Internet Technology (including web design). On The More Fun Side The most well-known landmark of Seattle is the Space Needle. This particular center has been featured in the television production Frasier, Grey’s Anatomy, and in several films. It is a tower (designed like a lookout or water tower) that is very unique, but it is not located downtown and it is not considered the tallest of the city. Of course, Seattle is also known for the NFL team the Seahawks, who have received the honor of going to the Super Bowl one time. However, this is not the only sport (football) that is represented in this city. This city is also home to professional baseball, hockey, and basketball teams as well.
