Michigan
The state of Michigan is known for quite a few things. For one, nearly everyone has heard of the Michigan Wolverines, which is a University of Michigan football team. Michigan is also known for its vast sand dunes, and Great Lakes Beaches. This state is separated into two sections-upper Michigan and Lower Michigan. People who arrive from Wisconsin can either cross the Mackinac Bridge while passing through upper Michigan, or they can take the highway through Lower Michigan. Ferry rides are popular in the state of Michigan as well, which is one way that people get across to certain areas of this state. There are many unique areas of Michigan that people can seek out. For instance, smaller abandoned coal mining towns such as Iron River may be worth checking out to some people. For those who do not know Michigan that well, a map of this state can be easily located on the Web. Maps and direction to this state are usually displayed free of charge on quite a few travel sites. Locations to all popular Michigan attractions are also made available online as well. Some of the cities that are most often visited include Holland, Grand Marie, and…Hell! For those of you who don’t know it…the state of Michigan actually has a small city named hell! Plenty of jokes pertaining to telling people to go to this city have developed over the years. You can just imagine what those jokes entail. One of the most popular activities that takes place in Michigan is dune buggy driving. People rent or own a vehicle that looks similar to a derby car, only considerably shorter. It’s main use is for driving around on beach sand and possibly on the dunes hills. The city of Holland is very quaint, and representative of the Dutch culture. There are plenty of small gift shops located along the coast of this city. When you climb on sand dunes and look out towards one of the Great Lakes (particularly Lake Huron) it appears as though you could just take a few steps and you would be right to the lake. However, you are more than likely a few hundred miles away, depending upon where you stop to take a climb on the dunes. The state of Michigan is considered one of those places you can visit when you are looking for a unique vacation to remember. This state has a similar climate as does Wisconsin, so travel is best during late spring and early summer. However, if you travel in spring some of the Great Lakes may be too cold to swim in yet-only forty degrees. However forty degrees is most likely just right for fishing. Camping and hiking are also other favorite activities that are indulged in by Michigan vacationers. In the fall of the year the Michigan foliage is quite a magnificent view.
