San Antonio
San Antonio is the second largest city (population-wise) in the state of Texas. This city’s presence is largely influenced by the two major military bases that are stationed within it (Lackland and Randolph Air Force Bases). Some of the major attractions of this city include the Alamo River walk that is most often frequented by couples and families, and Sea World (dolphin aquarium). San Antonio History Native Americans used to live in the San Antonio River area before it was inhabited by the Spanish in the year 1691. The Natives called the San Antonio River Yanaguana which is translated into English as "refreshing waters”. What inspired the Spanish name change of the Yanaguana was the fact that the Spanish took this particular river over on the day of the Saint Antonio feast (a celebration to honor Saint Anthony of Lisbon and Padua). The city of San Antonio was officially founded in the year 1718. Things To Do And See In San Antonio One of the most popular attractions of this area is the Antonio River Walk.
