Nashville is most known to be the place where country music singers as well as songwriters make it big. This is also the capital of the state of Tennessee. The city of Nashville is located on the Cumberland River, and was first founded in the year 1779. The nickname of this city is called “Music City” and sometimes is called the “Country Music Capital of the World”. The other two battle sites that are located near the Nashville battle sites include the Battle of Franklin and the Battle of Stone River. It is a controversial decision regarding who actually one these battles-the North or the South (Union or Confederate, respectively). The confederate army had lost more people in these battles than the Union, but the Union was forced out of the area. Aside from the battle tourism sites, well-preserved plantation houses that are still standing are open for public viewing as well in Tennessee. Houses such as the Belle Meade Plantation and the Belmont Plantation tell the bittersweet story of Civil War times. Culture And Art The city of Nashville is also rich in culture and art. This city is home to numerous visual art museums. One of such is the Frist Center for Visual Arts, and another is the Cheekwood Botanical Garden and Museum of Art, and yet one more is the Tennessee State Museum. Annual Events And Sports Annual events that take place in Nashville every single year include the CMA (Country Music Association) Festival, Nashville Film Festival, and the African Street Festival. This city is also home to several sports teams, such as the NHL team the Nashville Predators, and the Arena Football League’s Nashville Cats.
