History of Chile:

Chile was conquered by the Spanish, and its native indigenous inhabitants the Incas, were made second class citizens by the colonization of the Spanish. However, it took a lot of years to conquer them. From the mid 1600s to the middle of the 1800s, the people fought for independence. During their fight Spain was strong enough to own and rule over different parts of Chile, while still fighting the Incas. Today the country of Chile is independent from all foreign rule and its Chile flag flies over the ole ruins of the Spanish from long ago.

On a map of Chile the geography is mountainous with snow or tropical forest, and sandy and flat with desert. Its geography alone gives you that ability to experience the different things to do there. You can ski, lie on a beach, or climb into the forest with a tour guide. The capitol of Chile is Santiago Chile, and there’s so much to see there too in the city. Some of the most popular places to visit are the downtown National Library of Chile, and the fluid movement of people at the Stock Exchange of Chile. Lots of museums hold the art of the people before the Columbian period. Walking will let you visit with the old historic homes of the rich Spanish in the 18 and 1900s.

The facts about Chile and their Chilean food is that it’s spicy and it’s delicious. That is if you’ve got an iron cast stomach. Even if you don’t try a little of it while you’re there. The Chile recipes from Chile always include a hot side. Peppers are used in just about everything, in fact the spicy beans and chili that everyone enjoys all over the world is the product of the country of Chile. The use of hot peppers is just a part of the Chile culture.

Christmas Celebrations in Chile:

Christmas in Chile is a special time too. Foods figure in a big part of their holiday traditions during this time of year. When you depart from the Lan Chile airport during Christmas, don’t be surprised to find the airport crowded on December 22. All school age children are out for the celebrations, and many are traveling. Trees are decorated and the fixing of turkey, salad rice and other great recipes for a Chile Christmas are being prepared.
